AA/HP Tuners Device (RTD4) w/ECU Unlock for 2026+ Can Am Defender HD11 Models
- Looking for the best/most badass ECU tuning available for your Defender HD11? AA's performance tunes are readily available to gain horsepower and torque. Through our advanced ECU tuning we are able to modify parameters correctly to gain you the power needed. We are highly experienced in tuning these ECU types and this will show. We go for the most horsepower allowable on the specified fuel, but also make sure mid range power is greatly increased.... all wrapped into a tested tune that is safe to run all day.
- Allows you to flash the ECU, data log engine parameters, and view/erase trouble codes.
- Requires ECU to be sent in to HP Tuners be unlocked UNLESS purchasing ECU outright or exchanging ECU's After the initial unlock, the ECU can now be flashed at any time using your smart phone.
- Standard Unlock Process(Average 5-10 business days): Within 1 business day after purchase, we will send you instructions on sending your ECU to HP tuners. You will be responsible for shipping the ECU to HP tuners. Once at HP tuners, the ECU will take 1-5 business days for HP tuners to unlock. Your ECU will then be sent back via standard ground shipping. Turnaround time greatly varies on your location and how long ground shipping takes to/from HP tuners.
- Express Unlock Process(Average 3-5 business days): For the continental US 48 states ONLY We will send you a UPS Next Day Air label and instructions. You will need to attach this label to your own ECU package, then give the package to your local UPS drop-off location. Once at HP tuners, the ECU will take 1-5 business days for HP tuners to unlock. The ECU will then be sent back to you via Next Day shipping. All other parts on the express flash order will be shipped ground unless otherwise specified/selected during order checkout. Keep in mind we cannot guarantee same day programming or control UPS shipping times/delays. We will do everything possible to turn the ECU around as fast as possible.
- Purchase Unlocked ECU Outright: THIS REQUIRES BRP CAN AM BUDS2 SOFTWARE OR A WILLING DEALER TO PROGRAM. The new BRP ECU will come to you unlocked ,but blank, with no program. This will require BRP/Can Am BUDS2 software to program the blank ECM to your vehicle. Your gauge cluster stores the ECU information, so this can only be done by bringing the vehicle to a local shop. Many shops have this software, and all BRP/Can Am dealers have this as well. You'd want to find a local shop willing to complete the job for you before purchasing this ECU option.
- Exchange Unlocked ECU: THIS REQUIRES BRP CAN AM BUDS2 SOFTWARE OR A WILLING DEALER TO PROGRAM. The exchange ECU will come to you unlocked but blank, with no program. These ECU's will normally look used, but in good operating condition. If worried about the looks/outside condition of the ECU, we suggest simply purchasing one outright. The core charge is $995 for this ECU. We will refund $795 when your core ECU returns. In the end, this ends up costing $200 more than the standard unlock process, but saves time.
- ENSURE you INSURE your ECU for $500. AA is not responsible for shipping delays or lost ECUs. While more expensive over Priority Mail or FedEx, UPS has been the most reliable carrier in our experience.
- We will follow up with instructions for ECU removal
- Iphone or Android and the HP tuners TDN application are required to use this device
- Price includes AA RTD4 tuner, OBDII to Can Am Diagnostic Port cable, necessary credits to flash your ECU, one AA custom tune (more tunes optional), and ECU Unlock which is performed at HP Tuners facility in Illinois.
- The Can Am Defender HD11 is a great UTV with potential. It's priced great and for just a little more we can get the power you are needing. Our clutch kit is available for this model with even more gains by clutching for a higher RPM as this motor likes to rev more than what the factory allows.
- 1 second faster when testing 0-60 MPH with just tuning! When paired with clutching it's 3.54 seconds faster 0-60 MPH over stock! Be wary of others claiming inflated HP gains as their Dragy results tell a different story.
- Much quicker throttle response and power delivery giving a whole new feel to the vehicle
- Throttle by wire adjustments per drive mode/gear give the vehicle a snappy feel in sport mode without being overly sensitive in lower modes, making it still great for crawling and loading in a trailer.
- Throttle by wire limiters disabled
- More throttle % in low gear and reverse as the factory limits these gears to not open the throttle fully
- Fan on/off is lowered to 185/180 degrees F for cooler engine and charge temps. OEM is 203/198.
- Speed limiter removed in low and high gears. Top speed will depend on resistance vs power and overall gearing/tire size.
- Rev limit increased to 8500 RPM for top speed/overshoot. Optimum peak RPM is 6200-6600
- 2 foot limiters removed (gas/brake at the same time)
- Seatbelt limiter disabled (Gauge cluster will still show seat belt warning)
- Torque limitations properly raised for the higher RPM operation
- We HIGHLY suggest using with one of our clutch kits as the gains are huge with the clutch and tune.
- AA's wicked timing curve is safe for the fuel used, but we do a much better job of finding timing limits for ramp up/more torque. Many others simply focus on wide open throttle timing/fueling. The HD11 timing curve is extremely mild from the factory, and this is where most gains are made.
- Fuel tables modified to gain low end punch and safe yet powerful air/fuel ratios.
- Engine safety: Our tunes utilize and properly reconfigure the knock adaption system in the stock ECU. This system is very well designed to sense engine knock and retard ignition timing well before any motor issues would arise. This means you have motor safety built in that is extremely well done and works fantastic.
- A stock HD11 on our dyno was 66 RWHP. Power gains shown with 91 octane fuel.
- Level 1: Meant for stock exhaust systems only. Gains an impressive +7 RWHP peak and +8 RWHP throughout the mid-range and shaves over 1 second off 0-60 MPH.
- Available in 87 or 91-93 octane. (Gains shown with 91 octane, 87 octane will be a few HP less)
- Level 2: Fueling and timing changes meant to support aftermarket exhausts. With AA muffler, gains over L1 tuning an impressive +5-6 RWHP peak and +10 RWHP at higher speeds where the stock exhaust chokes.
- Available in 87 or 91-93 octane. (Gains shown with 91 octane, 87 octane will be a few HP less)

- Why AA tunes over others? We have been tuning UTV's with CVT clutches for a long time, longer than almost anyone in our field going back to the 800 RZR. Tuning a CVT vehicle properly is not an easy task as you have so many variables at one time. We spend the time to wheel dyno (with actual UTV tires) correctly per modification, and have advanced ECU calibration and clutching knowledge to do so. Every change in horsepower can result in us changing clutching several times. We also develop most of our supporting mods so we know everything works correctly, and build parts to fit the vehicles needs. Lastly and honestly the most important; we then back up our results with real world data logging on local trails and our facility on 110 acres. It's this combination that truly makes the difference and why AA normally has a faster vehicle with the same or less rated tune horsepower.
