Cargo Racks

Whether you use your rig for work, recreation, sport, or leisure, there are numerous reasons why you should install a Can-Am Defender cargo rack. In addition to helping you organize your gear and supplies, Can-Am Defender cargo racks/storage racks also enable you to carry more during rides without the need for a pull-behind UTV trailer. Fishermen often utilize Can-Am Defender cargo racks to hold their poles, tackle boxes, augers, and other fishing tools, while hunters require cargo racks to hold their weaponry and field dressing tools. Additionally, front and rear hitch-mounted cargo racks/cargo baskets are also used by hunters to haul freshly-shot deer, elk, and pronghorn. When compared to hoisting a full, half, or quartered carcass directly into the bed of a Defender, hitch-mounted cargo baskets and racks that mount closer to the ground are literal back savers. But regardless of whether you’re after a Can-Am Defender headache rack, a safari rack, or a ladder rack with a removable back crossbar that can be stored up next to the cab if needed, we have something to suit your every need here at Everything Can-Am Offroad!

In some cases, full-blown cargo racks, bed racks, or roof racks for the Can-Am Defender are essential for hauling large items. In other cases, however, smaller cargo racks may be better suited for the tasks at hand. Partial Can-Am Defender bed racks, for example, that stretch across the front of the bed box are super handy. You can store dog kennels and other flat objects below the rack, while supporting water tanks, spare tires, and gear bags on top. Similarly, specialty-use Can-Am Defender racks like gun racks, cooler racks, or spare tire racks can also prove beneficial in specific situations. Whatever the case may be, though, Everything Can-Am Offroad is the destination of choice for Can-Am Defender cargo racks. From steel and aluminum cargo racks to quack racks and on-hood storage racks, you can get it all here at Everything Can-Am Offroad!

What to Look Out for When Buying Can-Am Commander Cargo Racks?

Can-Am Commander Cargo Rack Types

When equipping your Can-Am Defender with a cargo rack, you should start by considering the different cargo rack types available.

Think about where you prefer the rack to be positioned: at the rear for substantial gear, up front for quick access, overhead for bulky items, or as a bed extender to enhance the UTV’s carrying capacity.

The choice will depend on the usual items you transport and how you generally use your Defender.

Try to choose these while also taking into account how it will affect your Can Am’s weight balance and how agile it will be.

Installation

Installing the rack is as crucial as choosing it, so be sure to keep an eye out for that. As such, you should look for racks that come with a fitting system tailor-made for the Defender, ensuring a snug and secure fit.

A good system should make the rack easy to attach or detach, providing versatility without compromising the UTV's essential functions or visibility.

If you are the type of person who always installs and removes your racks, it’s best to choose those that will not make it hard on you.

Cargo Capacity

The cargo capacity of the rack should suit your usual load without overburdening the Defender or yourself.

While it's tempting to opt for a high-capacity rack, consider how it might affect the UTV's handling and performance.

The Defender's balance and agility are paramount, especially when navigating challenging terrains and trying to go as quickly as you can.

Try to choose cargo capacities with a bit of headroom, but don’t go all out and opt for racks that can hold the most cargo since these will affect your visibility and will add unnecessary volume.

Build Materials and Construction

Finally, the rack's construction material is also something you should keep in mind. Steel racks offer strength but add weight, potentially impacting fuel efficiency and speed.

On the other hand, aluminum racks are lighter and rust-resistant but may not be as strong as steel.

Ensure the rack's joints, welds, and any plastic components are of high quality for enduring the rugged outdoors.

The finish of the rack should also be robust, protecting against the elements and wear while making your Can-Am Defender look a lot better!
