Snow plow time? If it’s your first season (or if it’s been a while) throwing one on the Defender, then rest assured that it’s not as tricky as it looks. But before you even worry about installing, nobody wants to pay beyond a fair market value. Consider this your all-in-one guide.
For starters, our complete snow plow kits for the Can-Am Defender on our site start at $547.99 and climb to $2,399.95 for a V-plow. Five of the nine systems below land between $749.99 and $879.99, and plow add-ons run from $39.99 up to $750. Plan on a winch as well, since none of these kits ships with one.
A key point to understand: on a Defender the blade is only half the purchase. The other half is a mount matched to your machine, and the HD11 usually takes its own. Our Defender snow plow page sorts every option by model.
Defender Snow Plow Blade Widths and Materials
Straight Defender blades come in 60, 66 and 72 inches. Angling one shrinks its clearing path, and oversized tires or spacers widen your wheel track, so leave extra width for either. Driveways do fine with 60 or 66 inches, while long lanes and open lots call for 72. Here is what each kit brings.

Snow Plow Add-Ons Worth Knowing
Basically every Defender plow is going to rise and fall on the winch. For blade duty alone 2,500 to 3,500 lb covers it, but year-round pulling justifies 6,000 lb. Our Defender winches fit either plan. Read the fit note on any add-on before it goes in the cart.

Snow Plow Fitment on Lifted or Tracked Defenders
Lift Kits and Your Snow Plow
Raising the suspension will most likely leave the blade tipped. KFI and Open Trail offer leveling kits from -1 up to +6 inches. The Pro-V wants at least a 2-inch leveling kit on any lifted machine. Denali’s 2-inch and 4-inch lift push tubes work with its standard tubes only.
Tracks and Your Snow Plow
Wide track kits can catch the blade in sharp turns, so the fix is moving it farther forward. KFI and Open Trail brackets add 10.33 inches of reach, and the Pro-V uses its own 12.25-inch extension. Eagle, Denali and Kolpin each sell a longer push tube for tracked machines.
Snow Plow Mounts for the HD11
The HD11 changes the mount math. KFI and Kolpin both list a dedicated HD11 plow mount, but the KFI winch mount sold with the Pro-V fits every Defender except the HD11. Moose lists V-Plow mounts through the HD-10 only. KFI and Open Trail also need the stock front bumper, so HD11 owners should confirm fitment with us first.
Gear That Pairs With a Defender Snow Plow
- Windshields: a plow kicks snow back toward the seat, and glass up front keeps you from wearing it
- Cab enclosures: close off the cab so the cold stays outside while you plow
- Heaters: warmth only sticks around in a closed cab, so match one with an enclosure
- Moose Utility Tire Chains: a rear-tire pair of V-bar chains made to bite into packed snow and ice
Snow Plow Alternative: A Defender Snow Blower
Once the banks get tall, a blower that launches snow out of the way beats a blade that can only push it. Our Defender snow blowers span 48 to 72 inches wide on 15 to 22 hp engines, and the Bercomac units still use your winch to lift. Size it past the outside edge of your tire tracks.
Before You Order a Defender Snow Plow Kit
November through January is when lead times stretch, so late summer and early fall are the smart windows to buy. Many of these listings have install instructions you can download ahead of time.
The most common warranty is between 3-6 months, but Everything Can-Am Offroad does offer extended 1- and 2-year warranties on all products if that is something you are interested in — you can add the extended warranty right at checkout.
